Eric, the article on race today was superb. I really related with it. I’m Anglo Saxon, but tan up pretty well. I went out with this real light girl when I was going to college. I had only dated her three times when she wanted me to show her my home, which I did. (She dropped me soon thereafter, we were too poor for her). She looked at my “farmer tan” (brown arms and face) and wondered why I was so dark. I told her I played baseball and spent a lot of time outdoors in the sun. I really felt inferior, in some small way, even though I shouldn’t have. To a small degree I know what the blacks in America–and even the Latins, too, must go through when they are minorities in a primarily white country. I don’t think it is as big a problem as it was 50 years ago, but, again, you handled it very well in your article. I think the defining line of your piece was when you said maybe a black should win the presidency so people can get over it–and if he did win, next time around it would be real boring to have a black run. Something like that. Today, different ethnicities are–or seem–proud of their differences.
You said I could leave a link to my House ABCs blog. My wife and I wrote a great book called “SELLING FAST: We sold Our House In One Day And You Can Too.” If anyone is interested in upgrading their knowledge before selling real estate, this 250-page ebook is just the ticket. Houseabcs.blogspot.com It is being sold through PayPal and Amazon.com and Moby Pocket published it in PDF.
Also, I’m known as a Political Disconnect, since I’m very conservative and write much of the material at
PoliticalDisconnect.blogspot.com I’m kind of brassy when I ask–but maybe some of your readers will give it a try. Meanwhile, keep up the great writing and reporting.
The best to you, Eric
